Noise Meter

Noise meter is essential for microwave operation. Measuring the Sun as well as moon noise over a cold sky helps to evaluate your RX systems well as aids for calibration of the rotator. There are many ways to measure sun and moon noise. The most accurate and favorite is the one used by Michael Kuhne (DB6NT). I was able to obtain a PCB from Mr. Kuhne and build this type of noise meter by entering my system information in software such as “EME Planer”. Based on the information entered, the software calculates the expected sun noise figure and eventually aids in fine tuning system performance.
